30/10/2012 – New version of MSI AppliDis Client 4.0 (Build 117)

AppliDis Client 4.0 MSI ( build 117) including AppliDis Desktop for Windows, AppliDis Client for IE et AppliDis Launcher for Windows. This Clients applies for AppliDis Fusion 4 SP1 as well as AppliDis Fusion 4 SP2 .Only for positions with Windows 7 SP1 RDP8.

Information on the Microsoft RDP8 update for Windows 7 SP1 client machines

A priority Microsoft update (KB2592687) may break the functioning of AppliDis Client for IE installed on Windows 7 SP1 machines that applies on 32 or 64 bits Operating Systems. We highly recommend to temporary disable the Microsoft Updates on your Windows 7 SP1 machines, until a version of AppliDis Client supporting RDP 8 is installed. In case of using a Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) server in your environment to manage Windows updates, we highly recommend you to individually block the package KB2592687.

This update also applies on Windows 2008 Server R2 SP1 running AppliDis virtual desktop. Therefore we highly recommend you to also disable this update for servers running under Windows 2008 Server R2 SP1.

The Microsoft update KB2592687 provides the new RDP 8 client for Windows 7 SP1 and Window 2008 Server R2 SP1. Only RDS connections to a Windows 2012 server will take advantages of RDP8 new functions. You could find more information on Microsoft web site:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2592687.

We provide you a new AppliDis MSI B117 client with the functional level of the last Hotfix 15 that supports the versions of AppliDis V4 SP1 and AppliDis V4 SP2 available at the following link: http://www.systancia.com/.

A new version of AppliDis MSI Client (B117) has been releases, including support of RDP 8 protocol (however, the new features of RDP 8 are not implemented yet). The same functional level as the AppliDis MSI Client B116 included in the latest version of AppliDis hotfix (V4S1R015HF_P20120507) is used.

This new version of AppliDis client must only be installed on Windows 7 SP1 (32 or 64 bits) computers, if RDP 8 has already been installed, or if you plan to install it. This new version of AppliDis MSI Client has not been validated for the others platforms.

In case Windows 7 SP1 computers are used in your environment, we recommend you to follow the recommendations below, in this order:

1) In case a Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) server is used in your environment, we recommend you to block the Microsoft update KB2592687.

2) In case no Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) server is used in your environment, we recommend you to block the Microsoft Updates

3) In case Microsoft Updates are not managed in your environment, we recommend you to deploy the new version of AppliDis MSI Client (B117) onto the Windows 7 SP1 machines.

4) In case the Microsoft update KB2592687 has already been installed on the computers, users are blocked and the new version of AppliDis MSI Client (B117) cannot be installed, we recommend you to uninstall the update KB2592687.

A new version of AppliDis MSI Client, including support of RDP8, and validated on all the usual operating systems, we be released in a next hotfix/addon for AppliDis 4 Fusion SP1/SP2.

Possible origin of the problem

To view the list of remote directories and files, AppliDis uses the Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) of the remote server.
The problem can occur if the IIS prerequisite is not installed on the application server.

Problem checking

To verify the issue:

On the administration console, navigate to the “Server” tab, select the server in question and choose “Go”.

Once the remote session opened, make sure IIS services are installed and started.

If they are not started or not installed, refer to the section “Installing and Configuring IIS”.

If already started, you can perform an additional check :

Open Internet Explorer with the link http://server_name/AppliDisXML/applidiserver.asp.If the page shows “The XML page can not be displayed”, it indicates that the services are started and functional. If the page is not found or generates another error, this means that services are not properly installed. It is necessary to repeat the operation described in “Installing and Configuring IIS”.
